Meet Adriana Zainea: our new Head of Appliance Safety and Standardisation

In our latest blog post, we have the pleasure of introducing you to our new Head of Appliance Safety and Standardisation, Adriana Zainea. In this exclusive interview, we delve into her background, experiences, and the vital role she plays within our organization. Join us as we get to know her better and gain insight into the responsibilities and vision she brings to her new role.

Can you tell us a little about yourself, your background and your role at Dimeta?

My name is Adriana Zainea, and I recently joined Dimeta as the Head of Appliance Safety and Standardisation. In this role, I am responsible for developing and implementing measures to ensure the safe acceptance of renewable and recycled carbon DME within the LPG industry. I also work on providing a framework for the safe development and certification of dedicated renewable and recycled carbon DME and DME/LPG equipment, focusing on appliances and equipment designed for use with blends such as boilers, water heaters, cookers, etc.
I have been working in the energy sector and, more precisely, in the gas industry for over a decade. My journey in this field started as an engineer in the grid sector, specifically focusing on the maintenance of natural gas grids. I gained valuable experience working for various companies, including a subsidiary of Engie and later joining Antargaz as a gas grid development engineer, primarily handling LPG grids and all related topics. I have also worked for France Gas Liquides as a safety and energy efficiency manager. For the past four years, I have served as a Regional Sales Director in the white certificates field, gaining valuable experience in the commercial aspect of the industry.
Throughout my career, I have continued to deepen my knowledge and expertise in the energy sector. First, I earned a bachelor’s degree in energy engineering and a master’s degree in thermo-energy systems from Politehnica University of Bucharest. Then, I pursued a specialized master’s degree in Gas Engineering and Management from Mines Paris—PSL, fueling my passion for this dynamic field.

What inspired you to join our team?

The driving force behind my decision to join Dimeta and its dedicated team is the opportunity to contribute personally and professionally to decarbonization. While my involvement in this subject dates back over a decade, the urgency of the current global climate crisis compels us to take immediate action towards achieving a net-zero future.
Working with Dimeta and contributing to accelerating the production and use of Renewable and Recycled Carbon DME resonates deeply with my commitment to sustainability. This sustainable gas is key to the global mission of reducing greenhouse gas emissions, particularly in rural communities and industrial sectors. Moreover, the collaborative and motivated atmosphere of the Dimeta team sparked my enthusiasm to be part of this mission.
By combining my engineering background with my experience in safety, I strive to contribute to a just and inclusive energy transition.
